Ronald Turner And The Fashion Statement

Ronald Turner and The Fashion Statement Band is a professional, clean-cut group of musicians that give their musical best to put joy in the minds and hearts of our listeners through deeply felt creativity. Our group was established in 1990 as a jazz/funk ensemble. We consist of musically well-educated instrumentalists utilizing saxophones, keyboards, electric bass, and drums. We play a variety of music ranging from smooth jazz, contemporary/straight ahead jazz to funk and blues. Each player in the group is a multi-talented musician having played with world-renowned artists like Dizzy Gillespie to contemporary artist Maxwell.

Smooth Jazz News Magazine writer Jonathan Widran concludes that the smooth jazz format should be open to give Ronald Turner's CD a shot at airplay.

Music promoter Cliff Gorov of All That Jazz in Las Vegas, NV, stated, "There is an elite country club of smooth jazz musicians. Ronald Turner deserves to be in that club." All That Jazz has promoted Norah Jones, Kenny G, Boney James, Dave Koz, George Duke, Herb Alpert, and the list goes on.

Ronald Turner is the leader/drummer/songwriter of the Fashion Statement band and executive producer of his debut CD It’s All About Love. He is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, a graduate of Florida A and M University, and a former public school band director in Florida and Los Angeles, California.

He has performed with singer Esther Phillips and trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie for the Newport Jazz Festivals at Carnegie Hall, the Oakland Coliseum, and the Hollywood Bowl. Also he has performed or arranged music with James Ingram, Ray Charles, Freddie Hubbard, Hubert Laws, Patrice Rushen, Phil Perry, Don Julian, the Penguins, the Coasters, Rev. James Cleveland, Henry Jackson, the Los Angeles Male Ecumenical Choir, the Platters, Richard Berry, Brenton Wood, Cardella Demilo, and gospel singer Bessie Griffin.
